A programme guide for your cable network
When a subscriber presses “guide” on the remote and sees an empty table, the whole service feels incomplete. epgsd fixes that: it fetches listings from your programme data provider, builds an electronic programme guide from them and broadcasts it in your network so subscribers' set-top boxes and TVs display it on their own. Configured once, it runs in the background and keeps itself up to date.
How it helps day to day
The guide updates itself
epgsd regularly fetches fresh listings (XMLTV, e.g. from the AKPA service) and quietly swaps the data in the broadcast — with no interruption and no manual work. You only decide how many days ahead the guide should reach.
Full descriptions, not just titles
Title, episode description, genre, production year, cast and age rating — everything your listings provider supplies ends up in the guide on the subscriber's screen. With correct local characters included.
Everything set up in the browser
Channels, multiplexes and outputs are configured in a simple panel, and a live dashboard shows the status of every broadcast. The listings preview shows exactly what the subscriber will see — before it goes on air.
Blends into your existing signal
The guide stream travels over the network to your multiplexers (e.g. Teleste Luminato), which weave it into the broadcast channels — with no interruption and no changes to the video path.
Light and hands-off
One application with a built-in database — no external dependencies and no complicated installation. Written in Rust, it handles hundreds of multiplexes on a single modest server.
